Water Ingress Around Roof Opening Panel - Restricted Drain Tubes Check/Reposition Drain Tubes

Remove and destroy Bulletin XJ501-13, dated 03/05. Replace with this Bulletin.

Revisions are shown with a black bar.

Issue:

Some 2004 MY-on XJ range vehicles may exhibit water ingress from the roof opening panel area, staining of the head lining, and possible instrument
pack warning light illumination. The roof opening panel rear drain tubes may be restricted preventing the water from draining away. This condition may
lead to water spilling onto the headlining and/or running down the D-pillar area and accumulating in the rear seat pan, leading to potential corrosion to
connectors FP002 and FP006.

Action:

Should a customer express concern, check that the roof opening panel drain tubes are draining correctly, and reposition the drain tubes if required.
Follow the Service Instruction outlined below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Drive the vehicle onto a suitable raised surface so the front wheels are approximately 75 mm (3 in) higher than the rear wheels (Illustration 1).

2.

Open the roof opening panel and ensure the ignition is turned 'OFF'.
