Service Action: Hood Safety-Catch Spring

CONDITION SUMMARY:

Situation: 

A small number of warranty reports have been received where difficulty in opening the hood was identified as the concern. Investigations revealed that
the hood spring retention cap was broken and the spring that lifts the hood was subsequently loose. Hood latch functionality is not impacted by this
condition; however, should a hood be closed in the failed state, access to the secondary hood latch release lever will be restricted.

Action: 

Dealers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles in the VIN range above that are in their control and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new or
used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Service Action.

For vehicles in dealer inventory, this Service Action should be performed in conjunction with the vehicle Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) and on all
vehicles prior to customer handover. Vehicles within the affected VIN range and already in the hands of owners should be updated at the earliest
convenience.
