Front Wheel Arch Liner - Noise During Tight Turns - Repair Procedure

ISSUE:

Noise from the front wheel arch area during tight turns. The front tires of 1995 MY XJR Sedans from VIN 720001 - 723157 may contact the wheel arch
liner during full lock turns.

ACTION:

If a customer complains of noise during tight turns from the wheel arch area on a 1995 MY XJR Sedan within the listed VIN range, add an additional
wheel arch fastener following the procedure described below.

WHEEL ARCH MODIFICATION PROCEDURE

1.

Remove both front wheels.

2.

Mark two lines parallel with the inside edges of the wheel arch liner using the dimensions shown in Illustration 1.

3.

Drill a 4.75 mm (3/16 inch) diameter hole through the liner and the body panel at the point where the two lines cross.

4.

Remove the brake cooling duct rear outlet finisher and the two clips retaining the liner to the body.

5.

Move the liner to access the new holes. Clean the holes and paint any exposed metal with a zinc rich paint.
