Oil Filter Adapter: Service and Repair

Oil Filler Head Gasket, Renew

-

Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on two stands.

-

Remove the oil filter canister.

-

Position a drain tray under the oil filter housing.

4.OL SC only: Remove the clamp nut (1 Fig. 2) securing the oil cooler hoses to the oil filter head. Disconnect the cooler hoses (2 & 3 Fig. 2) from
the filter head and fit plugs to the cooler hoses.

Remove the bolts (2 Fig. 1) securing the filter head assembly to the cylinder block. Remove the filter head (4 Fig. 1) and extension block (3 Fig. 1)
from the cylinder block.

Remove the drain tray.

-

Remove the filter head from the extension block and remove both gaskets. Clean all the joint faces.

Fit new gaskets to the filter head and extension block and position the filter head I extension block assembly on the cylinder block.

-

Fit and tighten the bolts securing the assembly to the cylinder block.

-

4.OL SC only: Remove the plugs from the cooler hoses and remove the `O' ring seals. Fit new `O' ring seals to the hoses and lubricate the seals. Fit
the cooler hoses to the filter head. Fit and tighten the securing clamp nut.

-

Fit the oil filter canister.

-

Lower the vehicle from the stands.

-

Check and top up the engine with the correct oil.
