The engine must be cold. It should not have been run during the past 3 hours.

Load the PDU with PDU 1045 at the base station, selecting in sequence: Diagnostic, Toolbox, Powertrain, and NO to "Is Measurement Probe
required?"

Connect the PDU to the vehicle, turn ignition switch to ON. Verify the vehicle status on the ECM version data screen.

At PDU Tools screen, select OBD Logger. Follow the operator action instructions.

Select » at the OBD logger screen.

^

Select » at the screen indicating the System Readiness Test Status (whether it is complete or not.)

^

Ensure the parking brake is applied, follow instructions to ECM Test. Select YES to "Do you wish to reset less frequent test status and DTCs?"

^

Start and run the (cold) engine at idling speed for 15 minutes.

^

After 15 minutes idling, select » at the Start Drive Cycle screen. 

^

Select » at the Supported Test screen.

^

Raise the engine speed to 2000 rpm and hold it steady for 2 minutes at this speed.

^

After 2 minutes, allow the vehicle to return to idle. At this point, the purge valve diagnostic routine will take place. Once completed, the
PURGE MON box from the Supported Test screen will be deleted.

Note:

The Support Test screen options may not all be completed during the drive cycle initiated. For the purpose of this service action, only the PURGE
MON needs to be completed.

Verify that no faults are present by selecting the Diagnostic Trouble code option from the PDU Tools menu screen. If no faults are present,
disconnect the PDU and return it to the base station.
