Thermostat Sticking Closed - Improved Thermostat Introduced

Issue:

A revised coolant thermostat for V8 engines has been introduced to solve complaints of thermostats sticking in the closed position.

The new thermostat has been introduced in production from Engine No. 
980312****. This approximates to:

V8 XJ Series

VIN 836874

XK8

VIN 025596

Action:

Install the latest design thermostat, part no. AJ8 1328, in the case of a thermostat sticking closed on vehicles prior to the above VINs. Do not use the
earlier design, part no. NCA 2244BA.

Note that the "UP" arrow on the earlier thermostat has been deleted on the improved thermostat. Install the thermostat with the "Jiggle pin" at the highest
point.
