A Schrader valve for pressure testing is located on the front of the left (B bank) fuel rail, as shown in Illustrations 1 and 2. The location is the same on
both supercharged and normally aspirated engines.

The fuel pressure test set must be equipped with an adapter to suit the fuel system Schrader valve.

PRESSURE TEST:

1.

Place suitable absorbent material around the Schrader valve to absorb any fuel that might spill when connecting and disconnecting the test
equipment.

Note: 

The access to the Schrader valve, on the supercharged engine, is partially blocked by harness connectors which must be moved aside, (Illustration 2).

Remove the cover from the valve, attach the pressure gauge adapter, (if required) and then connect the pressure gauge.

3.

Remove the absorbent material and place it in a suitable container.

4.

Place the drain tube of the test set in an approved fuel container.

5.

Check that the drain valve is completely closed.

6.

Check that the hand brake is fully applied and Park is selected and then start the engine.

7.

When the engine is running, carefully open the drain valve and allow fuel to flow into the container until it is free of air bubbles, at this point close
the drain valve.

8.

Read the pressure gauge and record the fuel pressure. Fuel pressure should be 3 bar (44.1 psi) with the vacuum line disconnected from the pressure
regulator.

9.

Switch off the engine.

10.

Place more absorbent material around the valve.

11.

Open the drain valve and allow the residual fuel to drain into the container, to depressurize the system.

12.

Leave the drain valve open and disconnect the pressure gauge hose from the Schrader valve or the adapter. Carefully drain all the fuel from the
hose into the container.

13.

Remove the adapter, if used.

14.

Clean up any fuel which may be spilled during connection and disconnection of the test equipment. Remove, and safely dispose the absorbent
material.

15.

Reinstall the valve cover.

16.

If the harness connectors were moved to provide access, reposition them to their correct location.

17.

Start the engine and verify that there are no fuel leaks.
