Fuel Level Sensor: Service and Repair

Removal

1. WARNING:

BEFORE PROCEEDING, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT ALL 'SERVICE PRECAUTIONS' ARE READ AND UNDERSTOOD. 

Remove the battery. Refer to 'Battery, Service and Repair.'  See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service and Repair 

2. Drain the fuel tank using a suitable suction pump/tanker. If the On-board Refueling Vapor Recovery (ORVR) system is fitted refer to 'Fuel

3. Remove the trunk front liner. Refer to 'Body and Frame, Doors, Hood and Trunk, Trunk/Liftgate.'  See: Body and Frame/Doors, Hood and

4. Disconnect the harness connections to the sensor.

5. Using special tool 18G 1001, remove the sensor retaining ring.
