Refer to section D and refill the cooling system with antifreeze/coolant.

D. Refilling Cooling System With Coolant D542

Applies to all XK8 vehicles in the VIN range 001036-010342 after completing procedures B or C.

NOTE:

Since the cooling system cannot be completely drained, it will contain residual water from procedure B or C. It is necessary to add a measured
quantity of undiluted Jaguar Antifreeze D542 to the cooling system and then fill up with water.

1.

Remove the cap from the thermostat housing.

2.

Pour 4.25 liters (4.5 qts) of Jaguar Antifreeze D542 into the coolant reservoir.

3.

Add clean water until the coolant level stabilizes at the top of the thermostat housing neck.

Reinstall the thermostat housing cap and coolant reservoir cap. Wash away any antifreeze spilled on the vehicle.

Press red arrow on the Climate Control panel repeatedly until display changes to HI. Turn the fan knob clockwise until the fan speed bar graph
shows the maximum fan speed. Run the engine at approximately 2000 rpm for 2 minutes with the transmission selector in P or N. Switch off
engine.

Remove the coolant reservoir cap.

WARNING:

The coolant will be hot.

Use a temperature-compensated coolant tester to check that the concentration is 50% +/- 5% by volume or provides protection to -35°C (-31°E) If
necessary, adjust the coolant concentration by draining some coolant and adding undiluted antifreeze.

8.

Position a coolant reservoir label, part no. MNA 7698AA over the neck of the coolant reservoir and reinstall the cap.

NOTE:

Use only Jaguar D542 antifreeze/coolant on XK8 vehicles. D542 entered production from VIN 010342 and can be identified by its yellow color.
