Fuel Rail: Service and Repair

The fuel rails which run the length of each cylinder bank and are integral with the air intake manifold.

A cross-over pipe connects the two fuel rails together at the front of the manifold.

Removal

WARNING:  BEFORE PROCEEDING, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT ALL 'SAFETY PRECAUTIONS' ARE READ AND UNDERSTOOD.

1. Depressurize fuel system. See: Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair 
2. Disconnect battery ground cable. See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Battery Cable/Negative/Service and Repair 

3. Remove inlet manifold fuel cross-over pipe.

Place cloth under pipe elbows to collect any spillage.

Remove elbow securing screws.

-

Disconnect first elbow.

-

Disconnect remaining elbow and remove assembly.

-

Discard O-ring seals from pipe elbows.

-

Clean relevant parts and mating faces.
