Before applying water to these areas, pull down the top outer corner of the toe board insulation and insert some paper towels or clean rags to show
and absorb any possible leakage.

TESTING FOR POSSIBLE LEAKS

Location A.

1.

Aim a jet of water in the direction of arrow A, Illustration 1, (under the finisher, to the rear), into that area for at least 2 minutes.

Note: 

If a suitable 90° nozzle can be attached to the water hose it will increase the effectiveness of the jet, in that area.

2.

Wait for at least 2 minutes.

3.

Check the area for the presence of water by removing the paper or rag and then looking for absorbed water.

4.

Check for evidence of water in the area, visually with the aid of a lamp and also by feel.

Location B.

1.

Remove both windshield wipers and the plenum finisher.

2.

Remove the two mounting screws furthest to the rear of the front fender. Support the rear of the fender with a wedge, to provide access to the seam
(Illustration 1.)

3.

Aim a jet of water in the direction of arrow B, (under the fender, to the side), into that area for at least 2 minutes.

4.

Wait for at least 2 minutes.

5.

Check the area for the presence of water by removing the paper or rag and then looking for absorbed water.

6.

Check for evidence of water in the area, visually with the aid of a lamp and also by feel.

7.

If the area is dry, at both sides, then the vehicle is OK. Refasten the fender and then reinstall the plenum finisher and windshield wipers.

8.

If water is detected, proceed with the following repair procedure:

SEALING LEAKS

1.

Remove both windshield wipers and the plenum finisher.

2.

Use a lamp and mirror to examine the areas to be sealed. Since it is not possible to see the gap that is the cause of the leak, the whole available
area of the seam must be resealed.
