Belt tension is achieved by an automatic tensioner; neither the belt nor the tensioner require service apart from checking the belt wear indicators at
each normal service interval.
The minimum service life of the drive belt is 100,000 miles. Never apply oil to the belt or to the belt tensioner.
The automatic belt tensioner consists of an idler pulley which is free to rotate on a bearing, located at the end of a spring-loaded pivot arm.
The pivot arm can be turned counter-clockwise (viewed from the front of the engine) for belt removal and installation.
A belt-wear indicator is incorporated on the rear horizontal face of the pivot arm.
