Cranking Signal: Description and Operation

Primary detection is caused by the engine starting without a cranking flag and/or running with the cranking flag on.

With the following conditions met;
Wheel speed greater than 3 kph
Transmission in Park or Neutral
Engine speed 200 rpm or less
Monitoring counter is 200 ms or more

Detection of a cranking switch flag under these conditions is normal. If the flag is not detected with the engine speed less than 600 rpm a failure
judgement (low) is made. For 1246; with the cranking flag present  - road speed equal to or greater than 20 kph with an engine speed between 1200 &
3000 rpm and a set engine load, a counter is incremented. Should the counter exceed 5 times, a failure judgement (high) is made.
