Poor Seat Heating - Install Later Specification Seat Heater Pads - Installation Procedure

Issue:

On a customer complaint basis only, in the event of a concern of poor performance of seat heater pads, it is possible to fit to certain earlier vehicles the
seat heater pads as fitted from the commencement of 2000 Model Year production. These later pads extend into the side and front rolls of the seat
cushions and provide improved heating.

Action:

In case of a customer complaint it is not necessary to replace all the heater pads in the vehicle, only modify the seat(s) which is/are the source of the
customer complaint. It is, however, necessary  to replace both the cushion heater pad and the squab heater pad in any one seat, since the two pads are
wired in series and are considered to be a matched pair.

On 2000 MY vehicles, or on earlier vehicles which have been upgraded to the 2000 MY heater pads, the heater pads can be replaced individually in case
of a failure of either the cushion heater pad or squab heater pad.

1998-99 MY VDP vehicles already have the larger heater pads that extend into the front and side rolls of the front seat. Only the rear seat of these
models are eligible for this modification procedure.

PROCEDURE:

In all cases it is necessary to remove from the seat the cushion and/or squab covers to provide access to the heater pad(s). The redundant pad may then be
peeled away from the cover and the replacement heater pad fixed in its place.

XK8 FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER

A procedure for removal of the squab cover and heater pad is included in the more expensive procedure contained in Technical Bulletin 501-37.
