Electrical System Architecture
The XK8 system "architecture" features vehicle multiplexing. Multiplexing allows for greatly simplified wiring harnesses, while at the same time
allowing flexibility in programming market variants. Two data networks are used in the system:
a controller area network (CAN) for the engine, drive train and related Systems, and a standard corporate protocol network (SCP) for the body Systems.
Any vehicle subsystem depicted on the figures with the CAN or SCP included uses data derived from the network, or transmits data via the network to
achieve control. Messages for both networks are cataloged in Description and Operation under CAN/SCP Network. When appropriate, the user will be
referred to Description and Operation by a note on the Data information. In addition to the two networks, the XK8 uses a serial data bus (ISO) for
diagnostics and for the programming of certain control modules. See: Description and Operation
The XKB uses both power and logic grounds; however, it does not use a common logic ground stud connection as in previous vehicles.
