1. NOTE:  The fitted position of the packing washer must not be altered during assembly of the spring.

Fit packing washer and align to spring.
Fit the packing washer so that the vertical claws grip the lower spring coil.
Rotate the packing washer until the stop on the washer comes into contact with the end of the spring coil.

2. Position spring in spring compressor.

Position spring.
Position upper retaining arms so that they align with the tape reference markers.

3. Assemble spring.

If fitted, position the spring packer(s).
Fit spring pan.
Position adapter tool to spring pan.
Position spring compressor lower arms behind adapter tool, make sure arms locate into adapter tool recesses.

4. NOTE:  When compressing the spring, turn the tool handle the approximate number of turns it took to release the spring pressure, as noted in the

removal section.
