Locate the two cavities at the rear of the hinge arm and determine if springs are installed in this location. (Figure 2)

If no springs are found, perform the following:

Install one spring from kit C2P16704 in each cavity and align so they are perpendicular to the arm. (Figure 2)

Compress the springs several times in each cavity to ensure they are properly seated.

Determine if a foam pad is installed under the tang of the fuel filler bowl. (Arrowed in Figure 3)

If no foam is present, install a foam pad as follows: (Figure 3)

Peel the backing tape from the kit foam pad.

Verify foam is pushed fully under the tang.

Stick the pad under the tang of the fuel filler bowl hinge arm.

CAUTION:

Care must be taken while cutting away the material with a knife. Trim rubber molding material away from filler neck bowl.
