Check operation of ashtray lid.

If the ashtray lid operation "noise" has disappeared or the "slow" operation has been resolved, modify the ashtray cover panel as follows:

Select a suitable fine file.

Lightly file along the lower edge of ashtray cover panel, removing only enough material to allow smooth operation of the ashtray lid. (Figure
2)

Install the ashtray cover panel.

8.

Verify that the lid operates properly and no noise is present.

9.

If no other symptoms are present, refer to GTR Workshop Manual, Section: 501-12 (76.47.26) and install the floor console veneer panel.

NOTE:

If the ashtray lid will not remain open, refer to GTR section 501-12 operation 76.47.26 and remove the floor console veneer panel.

2.

Using a thin screwdriver, or suitable tool, hold the ashtray lid a quarter of the way open. (Solid arrow in Figure 3)

3.

Pull the veneer towards the rear of the vehicle to release the four securing clips. (Dashed arrow in Figure 3)

4.

Slide the ashtray lid veneer panel off to remove.

5.

Check operation of ashtray lid.

6.

If the ashtray lid latches, perform the following:
