Tire Valve Stem Damage During Manual Tire Pressure Checking or Low Tire Pressure Warnings Illuminated - Repair Procedure
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE
CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation: On vehicles fitted with Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) only, the following issues have been identified:
^ The valve stem may be damaged during manual tire pressure checking when either the valve cap is removed or when an airline is attached, resulting in
the sudden and complete loss of air. It is not possible to refill the tire with air.
^ The Low Tire Pressure warning will be illuminated and associated instrument pack messages displayed; this is due to the gradual loss of air through
the TPMS tire valve assembly.
NOTE:
Always replace all four (vehicle set) low tire pressure sensors (five low tire pressure sensors if the vehicle has a full size-spare).
NOTE:
Jaguar Engineering do not recommend the fitment of metal dust caps to vehicles fitted with TPMS, Warranty claims will not be accepted. Any vehicle
found with metal / chrome valve dust caps on TPMS tire valves must have them removed and replaced with the Factory-fitted plastic valve dust caps,
part number XR8 51652.
NOTE:
Owners must be informed of the consequences of putting metal valve caps on aluminum TPMS tire valves as this will void the warranty of the TPMS
valve assemblies as the plastic cap is the engineering specified fit.
Action:
In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to replace the complete vehicle set (four or five) of new
low tire pressure sensors.
