With engine cold, rotate crankshaft clockwise (as viewed from the front of the engine) until No. 1 cylinder exhaust valve is completely open.The
No. 1 cylinder is located at the flywheel or drive plate assembly end of the engine. As each adjustment screw (C), Fig. 28 is tightened,
ensure that the bottom of the screw is aligned with the valve stem (D). If the adjustment screw is not aligned with the stem when
tightened, stem damage can result.

Using adjustment tool Mot. 647 or equivalent, adjust rocker arm clearance for the No. 3 cylinder intake valve and No. 4 cylinder exhaust valve.

Rocker arm intake valve clearance should be as specified, refer to ``Valve Clearance Specifications.''

Refer to Fig. 29 and adjust rocker arm valve clearance to specification and in cylinder sequence shown.
