The single speed liftgate motor is equipped with an automatic park feature. The motor circuit is protected by a 4.5 amp circuit breaker attached to the
brake pedal support. The liftgate wiper motor on some early 1984 models may require an additional ground connection for proper wiper operation. To
install this additional ground, proceed as follows:
1. Remove spare tire and tire mounting bracket.
2. Fold rear seat forward, then remove driver's side rear seat back latch.
3. Remove rear quarter trim panel from driver's side of vehicle, then pull harness connectors A and B outward from inner panel.
4. Insert terminal of ground wire C into center cavity of connector B, then connect ground wire C eyelet to ground screw D at inner panel.
5. Reposition connectors A and B into inner panel, then install rear quarter trim panel, rear seat latch, spare tire mounting bracket and spare tire.
