ABS Light: Testing and Inspection
PURPOSE
The Anti-lock brake system will detect faults within the system, when a fault is detected one of two brake indicator lamps located on instrument
panel will illuminate and a fault code will be stored in the control unit memory.
When an indicator light is illuminated, diagnose the light display mode and repair as necessary.
The system must be visually inspected for leaks, improper electrical connections or component damage prior to further testing.
Further diagnosis of the anti-lock brake system requires the use of a DRB II diagnostic readout box to read stored fault codes. Connect the DRB II
to the engine compartment diagnostic connector located on the right side of the engine compartment, then follow the DRB II display to read fault
codes.
After completion of appropriate diagnosis, perform verification test VER-2. See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing
