Brake Shoe Removal and Installation
Removal

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support rear of the vehicle.
2. Remove:

The lug nuts.
^
The wheel.
^
The brakedrum. For additional information see Removal and Installation Notes.
3. Install Wheel Cylinder Clamp J-8002, or equivalent, on the wheel cylinder.
4. Remove the U-clip and washer (1) from the parking brake lever pivot pin. Discard the U-clip.
5. Remove the primary and secondary return springs (2) with Brake Spring Pliers J-8057, or equivalent. For additional information see brake spring
removal and installation notes.
6. Remove the spring retainers (3), holddown springs (3) and retaining pins (3).
7. Remove the adjuster lever (4), adjuster screw (4) and spring (4) from the brakeshoes (5).
8. Remove the brakeshoes (5).
