Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
NOTE:
This engine uses a one piece rear mian seal. Transmission removal is necessary to replace seal.
Crankshaft Rear Main Seal
PROCEDURE
1.
Remove transmission refer to Transmission and Drivetrain/Manual Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair.
2.
Remove flywheel or converter driveplate.
3.
Carefully pry seal out from around crankshaft flange.
4.
Coat inner lip of replacement seal with engine oil, then carefully position seal around flange.
5.
Using tool J-36306 or equivalent, tap seal until flush with cylinder block.
6.
Install flywheel or converter driveplate, then the transmission.
