Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Service and Repair

Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) Motor

1.

Remove air cleaner assembly.

2.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

3.

Disconnect the Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor wiring connector.

4.

Remove the Torx head mounting screws (2), and remove the AIS from throttle body, making sure the "O"-ring is still on the AIS motor.

5.

Install new AIS motor using a new "O"-ring.
NOTE:  If the pintle measures more than 1 in. (25 mm), it must be retracted by using the AIS exerciser (Tool # 7558).  Refer to Powertrain
Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Procedures.  The battery must be reconnected for this procedure.

6.

Install the Torx head retaining screws, torquing them to 20 lbs. in. (2 N-m).

7.

Connect the AIS motor electrical connector.

8.

Connect the negative battery cable.

9.

Install the air cleaner assembly.
