SYMPTOM/CONDITION
On some Cherokee, Wagoneer and Comanche models equipped with manually operated outside remote mirrors, the setscrew in the bottom of the mirror
trim cover may become, "stripped out". This condition will limit the mirror adjustment inward and outward but not up and down.
DIAGNOSIS
Check the setscrew in the bottom of the mirror trim cover for tightness. If it cannot be tightened, the setscrew can be replaced with the new style setscrew
listed below.

Using an appropriate tool, remove the existing setscrew from the bottom of the mirror trim cover as shown in the illustration on page 2.
NOTE:
THE MIRROR TRIM COVER DOES NOT HAVE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE DOOR TO REMOVE THE SETSCREW.
2.
Install the new setscrew using a # 7 Torx bit and tighten it to 7.5 in.lbs. (10 N-m) torque.
3.
Check the mirror adjustment to insure proper operation in all four directions.
