Center punch and using a 9/32 in. diameter drill hit, drill the inside of the backing plate at the hole alignment mark made in the groove of the
backing plate. (Fig. 4)

Counter sink the hole using a 13/32 in. diameter drill so the bolt head is within 1 mm of the backing plate. (Fig. 5)

Temporarily install the weight bolt to position the weight on the backing plate.

Carefully mark the hole location (D) for the second bolt (Fig. 6) and then remove the weight. Center punch, drill and counter sink the second
hole as previously described.

Install the weight, bolts and nuts and tighten to 15.8 N-m (140 in.lbs.) of torque. Be certain the weight (E) is positioned flush against the rear
of the backing plate (F). (Fig. 7)
10.
Lube the brake shoe contacts on the backing plate and install the brake shoes and drum.
11.
Adjust the rear brakes as outlined in the repair manual. Install the wheels.
REPEAT THE PROCEDURE FOR THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
