Remove the idle speed stepper motor (D) from the throttle body.

With the ignition OFF, cycle the exerciser tool switch between the HIGH and LOW positions and observe the pintel (E). The pintel should move
in and out.
a.
If the pintel does not move, replace the idle speed stepper motor. Start the engine and test the replacement motor for operation as described in
step 5.
b.
If the pintel operates properly, check the stepper motor bore in the throttle body for blockage and clean as necessary. Reinstall the stepper
motor and proceed to step 8.

Connect the MS 1700 tester Select the state display mode and monitor engine RPM.
9.
Start the engine and preset the idle to approximately 1500 RPM with the exerciser tool. Check the display on the MS 1700 to verify approximately
1500 RPM in preparation to continue through the vehicle test with MS 1700 tester
10.
Turn the engine off.
11.
Disconnect the exerciser tool.
12.
Connect the idle speed stepper motor connector (A) to the idle speed stepper motor.
13.
Start the engine and continue testing with the MS 1700 tester.
