Connect the other end of the short jumper
(R)
to the ballast resistor, (L - Fig. 13).

Connect terminal S of new wire harness to the remaining terminal of the ballast resist (Fig. 13).

Attach the electrical connector to the washer reservoir.
30.
Install the washer reservoir with screws previously removed.
31.
Install the plastic relay cover.

Connect the battery negative cable.
M.S. 1700 Test

Determine if the vehicle is equipped with a ballast resistor. The resistor should be mounted on either the engine compartment dash panel or the
drivers side inner fender. If there is no ballast resistor, perform the installation procedures stated in this I.S. Note.

If there is a resistor, perform the following test to determine if the wiring matches 1988 production. Turn the key to ON. Look for voltage at
diagnostic connector pin D2-9. If the initial voltage is greater than 9 volts and DROPS to 0 volts after 3-5 seconds, no further changes are
necessary. If the initial voltage is greater than 9 volts and DOES NOT DROP to 0 volts after 3-5 seconds, turn the key off and perform the
following steps 3 - 12.

Disconnect the battery negative cable.
4.
Remove the four relay holders from the fender bracket by squeezing the locking tabs on the fender side of the bracket.
