DISCUSSION:
Some owners may experience higher than normal transmission shift effort after the vehicle has a cold soaked at low ambient temperatures (below 50~ F).
The shift effort will become easier after the vehicle has been driven two or three miles.
This condition is related to the thickening of the SAE 75W-90 (API-GL5) gear lubricant required for the AX-15 transmission. Do not change the
transmission lubricant to a lower viscosity lubricant or use any type of additive.
The owners should be advised, that during colder weather, the shift effort may be higher than normal until the transmission has warmed up. This is
typical, and is not harmful to the transmission.
