Radiator Fan Relay: Description and Operation
Power Distribution Center
LOCATION
Relay is located inside the power distribution center (next to the coolant recovery bottle).
PURPOSE
Relay supplies battery voltage to radiator fan.
OPERATION
The engine controller applies or removes the ground from the circuit to energize or de-energize the relay depending upon the cooling demands of
the engine.
When the coolant temperature reaches 88° C (190° F), the engine controller applies the ground (energizes) to the radiator fan relay, enabling the
radiator cooling fan to operate. When the engine temperature drops below 77° C (170° F), the engine controller removes the ground (de-energizes)
from the radiator fan relay, disabling the cooling fan.
