Suspension/Shock Absorber Noise

MODELS:
1992 (XJ) Cherokee 1993 (ZJ) Grand Cherokee

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some XJ and ZJ vehicles may experience a suspension or shock absorber noise while driving on smooth road surfaces. The noise becomes worse when
driving on rough road surfaces and may be caused by the shock absorbers.

DIAGNOSIS:

Check the date code located on the bottom of the shock below the part number. Shock absorbers with a date code prior to 04592 (45th day of 1992) for
XJ, and 03492 (34th day of 1992) for ZJ should be replaced.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves replacement of the shock absorbers with a revised shock.

Replace shock absorber(s) with a suspect date code as outlined in the appropriate service manual.
