SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
An underbody squeak may be present coming from the rear of the car. The squeak usually occurs in cold weather, below freezing, and can occur when
hitting bumps or through any normal drive line disturbance such as changing automatic transmission from park to drive or engaging the clutch on a
manual transmission vehicle.
DIAGNOSIS:
Road test the vehicle, if the noise is present and is coming from the rear exhaust hanger area, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacing the rear exhaust hanger.
1.
Raise the vehicle on a hoist and support the exhaust system near the muffler with a jack stand.
2.
Remove the rear exhaust hanger and discard it. Retain the attaching bolts.
3.
Cut the tailpipe hook used in the original hanger from the tailpipe as shown in Figure 1, using a hack saw or suitable tool.
4.
Install the new hanger, p/n 52101097AC, using the original bolts and tighten the bolts to 55 Nm (40 ft. lbs.).
5.
Install the clamp, p/n 52002144, and align the system tightening the nuts to 60 Nm (45 ft. lbs.).
