NOTE:
If the levers (J and C) are not seated against the stops (H and D), the automatic advance mechanism is
partially engaged. Disengage the advance mechanism by loosening the screw (E) and rotating the clevis
(F)
1/4 turn (see illustration). Do not retighten the screw (E) at this time.
4.
Note engine idle speed indicated on the tachometer. If idle speed is incorrect, loosen the adjusting screw locknut (G) and adjust speed to 800 - 850
rpm with the idle speed adjusting screw (H) (see illustration). Tighten the locknut (G) after adjustment.
5.
Stop the engine.
6.
Insert a 6.5 mm (0.256 in.) shim between automatic advance lever (C) and stop (D) (see illustration).
7.
Check clearance between the idle speed adjusting screw (H) and the lever (J) (see illustration). Clearance should be 3 mm (0.119 in.). If clearance
is correct, proceed to step 9. If clearance is other than specified, proceed to step 8.
8.
Adjust the clearance between lever (J) and the adjusting screw (H) as follows (see illustration).
a.
Reinsert the 6.5 mm (0.256-in.) shim between automatic advance lever (C) and stop D if removed.
b.
Loosen the ball stop (B). Move the stop forward or rearward to obtain 3 mm (0.119-in.) clearance between lever (J) and the adjusting screw
(H) and retighten the ball stop.
9.
Remove the 6.5 mm (0.256-in.) shim. Reposition the clevis (F) so it will engage with the cold start capsule cable. Then tighten the screw (E)
if disengaged.
