CALIFORNIA V6-173 ENGINES
1.
Disconnect pickup coil electrical connector.
2.
Connect an ohmmeter set at mid scale to one of the pickup coil connector terminals and the other lead to distributor housing. Ohmmeter should
indicate infinite resistance, if not replace pickup coil.
3.
Connect ohmmeter between pickup coil terminals and note reading while flexing wires. A steady resistance reading of 500 to 1500 ohms should be
obtained. If reading is not as specified, replace pickup coil.
ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE
Testing of the Electronic Control Module (ECM), requires the use of tester J-24642 or equivalent. Follow tester manufacturers instructions when
testing the ECM.
