Valve Body: Service and Repair
VALVE BODY
REMOVAL
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the oil pan and drain the fluid.
3. Loosen the clamp bolts and remove the throttle and manual valve control levers from the valve body shafts.
Valve Body Removal And Installation
4. Remove the neutral switch from the case. Remove the valve body attaching screws.
5. Lower the valve body, pull the valve body forward to disengage the park lock rod, and remove the valve body.
NOTE: It may be necessary to rotate the output shaft before the park lock rod will clear the park sprag.
6. Remove the oil filter.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean all mating surfaces. Be sure burrs are removed from the transmission case and valve body steel plate surfaces.
2. Position the accumulator spring on the valve body.
3. Insert the park lock rod through the opening in the rear of the case.
4. Position the knob on the end of the lock rod against the reaction plug in the sprag and exert rearward pressure on the rod to move the rod past the
sprag. Rotate the output shaft, if necessary.
