Front Axle - Vent Hose

FRONT AXLE VENT HOSE

The front axle vent hose may rub against the intermediate steering shaft U-joint on some 1984 and 1985 70 Series vehicles built prior to body sequence
number 61601.

Move and secure the vent hose away from the steering shaft U-joint as outlined in the following procedure.
Procedure

1.

Inspect the front axle vent hose. If damaged, replace the hose with a 91 cm (36-in) length of replacement hose, P/N 812 5823.

2.

Secure the vent hose to the driver side frame sill with tie strap, P/N 323 0270, as follows:

VENT HOSE AND SILL WITH TIE STRAP

a.

Loop the tie strap (A) through the two holes in the sill that are located just below the steering shaft U-joint (see illustration).

b.

Move the vent hose (B) forward.

c.

Secure the vent hose to the sill with tie strap (A) as shown.
