Speaker: Description and Operation
Two speaker systems are offered on this model, standard or premium. Each of these two systems consists of several electro-dynamic loudspeakers. The
individual speakers in these systems have differing sizes and performance characteristics. However, these speakers have been specifically selected to
work in concert with one another and have been placed in locations designed to provide effective sound reproduction and projection within the passenger
compartment of the vehicle.

The basic design of all electrodynamic loudspeakers is very similar. Other than size, differences in speaker performance characteristics can be largely
attributed to the different materials and processes used to manufacture the various speaker components. A typical electro-dynamic loudspeaker consists
of the following major components:

Basket - This is the fixed chassis or support structure to which all of the other speaker components are secured. The basket is also used to mount
the speaker.

Cone - This stiff but lightweight cone-shaped component is located within the basket of the speaker.

Dust Cap - A small, round, lightweight and convex cap that covers the voice coil opening in the center of the speaker cone.

Magnet - A large and heavy ring-shaped permanent magnet is secured to the back of the speaker basket.

Pole Piece - A pole-like, magnetically permeable component that conducts and focuses the magnetic fields produced by the permanent magnet
within the area surrounded by the voice coil.

Spider - The spider is a flexible membrane that suspends and centers the voice coil within the magnetic fields produced by the permanent magnet
of the speaker.

Surround - The surround is the flexible membrane that secures and suspends the outside perimeter of the cone within the basket of the speaker.

Voice Coil - The voice coil is a tightly wound coil of wire that is attached to the center of the cone and is suspended within the magnetic fields
produced by the permanent magnet of the speaker.
The factory-installed speakers cannot be adjusted or repaired. If a speaker is damaged or faulty, it must be replaced.
Electrodynamic loudspeakers are transducers that convert the audio output electrical signals of the radio amplifier into the mechanical action of the
speaker cone. The cone is the piston of the speaker, which is used to create pressure waves in the surrounding air in order to reproduce the acoustical
information that is output by the radio. Through electromagnetic induction the speaker voice coil converts the audio output signal electrical current of the
radio amplifier or the premium speaker system audio power amplifier to a changing electromagnetic field. The alternating repulsion and attraction that
occurs between the changing electromagnetic fields of the voice coil and the constant magnetic fields of the permanent magnet pole piece results in
movement of the speaker cone. The surround allows the speaker cone to move axially, but minimizes the non-axial movement of the cone to help
