Clean the threads of the proportioning valve mounting bolts that protrude through the back of valve.

Turn the proportioning valve shaft so that "D" shaped edge (J) is positioned as shown. (Figure 3)

Loosen the proportioning valve mounting bolts two turns.
8.
Install proportioning valve adjusting gauge number 6221 (K) to the valve mounting bolts and to the "D" shaped flat edge of the valve shaft.

When the gauge is properly installed there is no clearance between the gauge and mounting bolts or the gauge and valve shaft.
