Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

1. Remove transmission as outlined in the ``Clutch & Manual Transmission'' section of this chapter.
2. Remove flywheel or converter drive plate.
3. Carefully pry seal out from around crankshaft flange.
4. Coat inner lip of replacement seal with engine oil, then carefully position seal around flange.
5. Using a plastic or rubber mallet, tap seal until flush with cylinder block.
6. Install flywheel or converter drive plate, then the transmission.
