EMISSIONS RECALL --
1986 JEEP COMANCHE, CHEROKEE, AND WAGONEER WITH 2.5 LITER ENGINE
Dear Jeep Vehicle Owner:
It has been determined that your 1986 Jeep, with a 2.5 liter engine, may be in violation of Federal Emissions Standards. Hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide,
and oxides of nitrogen levels could be above the allowable limits, which were established to protect the public health from the dangers of air pollution.
For this reason, we are asking you to return your vehicle -- identified by the Vehicle Identification Number on the enclosed form -- to your dealer for
replacement of the catalytic converter. This service will be provided free of charge.
The needed instructions have been sent to all Jeep/Eagle dealers. The service will not hurt your engine performance or fuel economy. To obtain this
service:

Contact your dealer as soon as possible to make an appointment for the free service.

Take the enclosed Owner Recall Notification Form with you at the time of your appointment and give it to your dealer. The form identifies
the vehicle and recall for which service is required.

The dealer will replace the catalytic converter and a heater system vacuum hose. The service will take about one hour, but additional time
may be required depending on how service appointments are scheduled and processed.
If you have any problem obtaining the service, please contact the Chrysler Zone
Service Office in your area (shown on the enclosed listing). A Zone representative
will arrange for prompt servicing of your vehicle. If you are still unable to obtain the
repair as described in this letter within a reasonable time, you may also contact the
Manufacturers Operations Division of the Environmental Protection Agency (EN- 340F), 401 M Street S.W., Washington, D.C. 20460.

The State of California requires that every vehicle must pass an emission test every two years and before it is sold. Without the free service we are
