Oil Pump: Service and Repair
Oil Pump Replacement
REMOVAL
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Raise and support vehicle, then drain oil pan.
3.
Disconnect exhaust pipe at manifold, then remove hanger at catalytic converter and allow pipe to drop to floor, if necessary.
4.
Remove starter motor, then the transmission housing inspection cover.
5.
Remove oil pan retaining bolts, then the oil pan and gaskets.
6.
Remove oil pump to cylinder block retaining bolts, then the oil pump and gasket. Do not disturb positioning of oil pump strainer and tube. If
tube is moved, a replacement tube and screen assembly must be installed to prevent pump cavitation.
INSTALLATION
Install oil pump and new gasket and tighten retaining bolts to specifications.
