Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair
Pressure Test Port (Shrader Valve)
NOTE: The fuel system maintains a pressure of approximately 131-269 kPa (19-39 psi.) when the pump is not operating. System pressure must be
released prior to the removal of any component.
1.
Remove the negative battery cable, and remove the fuel tank fill cap.
2.
Place sufficient shop towels under the pressure test port (schrader valve) on the fuel rail.
3.
Remove the cap from the pressure test port on the fuel rail.
4.
Using a small screwdriver or appropriate substitute, push the test port valve in to relieve fuel pressure. Absorb any spilled fuel with shop towels.
Reinstall the cap on the pressure test port.
