Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
WARNING: The fuel system is under constant pressure, even when the engine is OFF. Always release fuel pressure before servicing any fuel
system component.
NOTE: The fuel rail assembly must be removed to service the fuel pressure regulator.

REMOVAL
NOTE: Fuel system pressure must be released prior to any service of fuel injection components.
1.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the fuel tank filler cap.
2.
Remove the fuel rail assembly.
3.
Remove the fuel pressure regulator mounting screws, and remove the regulator from the fuel rail.
INSTALLATION
1.
Install a new black "O" ring on the fuel pressure regulator, and install the regulator onto the fuel rail assembly. Install and tighten the mounting
nuts securely.
2.
Install the fuel rail assembly.
3.
Connect the negative battery cable and install the fuel tank filler cap.
4.
Use the DRB II to select the Automatic Shut Down (ASD) Fuel System Test to pressurize fuel system and check for leaks. Refer to Powertrain
Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Procedures
CAUTION: Unless the test is stopped or the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position the fuel pump relay and the ASD relay will remain energized
for 7 minutes by the ASD Fuel System Test.
