Trunk / Liftgate Latch: Service and Repair
LIFTGATE LATCH/LOCK COMPONENTS REMOVAL
1. Raise liftgate. Remove liftgate trim panel. If necessary refer to liftgate trim panel service procedure.
Liftgate Latch/Lock Components
2. Remove latch screws.
3. Disconnect rod from latch.
Power Lock Handle
4. Disconnect power lock connector, if equipped.
5. Remove latch from liftgate.
6. Remove lock cylinder retainer clip.
7. Remove key lock cylinder.
8. Remove nuts retaining the liftgate handle. Remove the handle.
Liftgate Latch Striker
9. Remove latch striker nuts from below scuff plate. Access nuts from under bumper fascia/beam.
10. Remove striker, shim and seal plate.
11. For installation of components, reverse removal procedure. Tighten striker nuts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) and tighten latch screws to 7 Nm (5 ft. lbs.)
torque.
