Heater A/C Unit Whistle
MODELS:
1993 (ZJ) Grand Cherokee/Grand Wagoner
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
A vehicle may exhibit a whistling noise with the windows closed and the A/C system operating on outside air, coming from the right side of the
instrument panel. The condition is caused by flexing of the heater A/C unit which leaves a gap between two sections of the housing.
DIAGNOSIS:
Operate the A/C system in the outside air mode with the fan on high. Switch from outside air to recirculating air. If the noise goes away in the
recirculating air mode or when a window is opened, perform the repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1.
Using the procedures outlined in the Grand Cherokee/Grand Wagoneer Service Manual (Publication No. 81-370-3147), section 2E, page 22,
remove the dash pad.
2.
Using a 10 mm. deep well socket, remove and discard the nut from the mounting stud shown in this bulletin.
