Customer Satisfaction Notification # 669 -- Rear Seat Belt Buckle Assembly

Please remove and discard the original notification (dated August. 1996) from your files and replace it with this revised procedure.

This service requirement applies only to 1993 model year Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Wagoneer (ZJ) vehicles.

The center rear seat belt buckle may not be accessible when the right (passenger) side of the rear seat back is folded down in the cargo stowage
position. To correct this condition, the seat belt buckle assembly must be replaced.

The service procedure and labor time allowance to replace the seat belt buckle assembly on involved vehicles have been revised. The new service
procedure should be used for all future repairs.

Effective immediately all repairs on involved vehicles are to be performed according to this Customer Satisfaction Notification. The Labor Operation
Number for TSB 23-52-93 is being canceled.
Parts Packages:

No parts are being distributed to involved dealers. Dealers are requested to limit orders for replacement buckle assemblies to those parts required for
scheduled repairs.
Dealers should determine which parts package is required for each vehicle at the time appointments are scheduled to assure that the correct parts package
is available when the customer arrives. The appropriate buckle assembly for the vehicle to be serviced may be determined by:

Using the part code in the third column of the VIN list along with the table in the Parts section (involved dealers),

Using VIN lists electronically transmitted to DIAL System Function 53. Refer to the DIAL System section for details (involved dealers) or
^
Entering the VIN to DIAL System Function 69 or VIP (sales code information) along with the table in the Parts section (all dealers).

REGARDING NEW REAR SEAT BELT BUCKLE AVAILABILITY
Dear Grand Cherokee/Grand Wagoneer Owner:
The satisfaction of our customers is very important to Chrysler. Because of this, we are advising owners of some 1993 Jeep(R) Grand Cherokee and
Grand Wagoneer vehicles, that a new rear center seat belt buckle assembly is available for their vehicle.
The issue is...
The rear center seat belt buckle on your vehicle (identified on the enclosed form), may be difficult to access by the center occupant when the right
(passenger) side of the rear seat back is folded down in the cargo stowage position.
What Chrysler and your dealer will do...
Your dealer will replace the rear center seat belt buckle assembly with one that contains an extra buckle free of charge. The extra buckle is easier for the
center occupant to access when the right side of the seat back is folded down. The work will take about one half hour to complete. However, additional
time may be necessary depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and processed.
