Alternator Lamp/Indicator: Description and Operation
Generator Lamp Output
LOCATION (IF EQUIPPED)
This generator lamp is located on the instrument panel.
OPERATION
The generator lamp is used to indicate if the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) senses a low charging condition. Such a condition may exist
momentarily if the vehicle is at idle and all of the accessories are turned ON. Once the PCM senses this low charging condition, it will send output
signals to the Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor telling it to raise the engine rpm. Once the idle speed is raised, the light should go out.
