Body Control Module: Description and Operation
Interior Lighting

Courtesy Lamp Control

COURTESY LAMP CONTROL

The body controller has direct control over the majority of the vehicle's courtesy lamps. The Key Halo lamp is part of the courtesy lamp system
and is illuminated whenever the other courtesy lamps are illuminated. The body computer will illuminate the courtesy lamps under any of the
following conditions:
1. Any door is ajar.
2. The liftgate or flipper glass is ajar and the courtesy lamp disable is inactive.
3. The courtesy lamp switch on the instrument panel is closed.
4. A Remote Keyless entry unlock message is received.

Door Courtesy Lamps

DOOR COURTESY LAMPS

The optional door courtesy lamps are controlled by the corresponding door module. The body controller requests these lamps be turned on and off
via the CCD bus.

I/P Dimmer/Dome Lamp Switch

I/P DIMMER/DOME LAMP SWITCH

This switch is located near the rotary headlamp switch. It has a slide control which is used to adjust the intensity of the instrument panel lighting.
Instrument panel dome lamps can be requested by sliding the I/P illumination slide control past the detent in the slide mechanism (full right).

Illuminated Entry

ILLUMINATED ENTRY

Illuminated entry will be initiated when the customer enters the vehicle by unlocking the doors with the key fob, or with the key and the vehicle is
equipped with vehicle theft alarm and/or by opening any door or the Liftgate. Upon exiting the vehicle, if the lock button is pressed with a door
open, illuminated entry will cancel when the door closes. If the vehicle is secure, and a remote keyless entry lock message is received, illuminated
entry will cancel. If the doors are closed and the ignition switch is turned on, the illuminated entry also cancels.

Instrument Panel Dimming

INSTRUMENT PANEL DIMMING

I/P dimming is accomplished using the body computer. The panel dimming level switch is read by the body computer which converts the level to a
value which is sent over the CCD bus. Other modules such as the radio, Compass/Mini Trip Computer (CMTC), cluster, and the Vehicle
Information Center (VIC) use this data to follow the other incandescent bulbs in the vehicle which are directly driven by the body computer.

Master Illumination Telltale

MASTER ILLUMINATION TELLTALE

This is a telltale within the cluster. Although this telltale is mandatory for export vehicles, all ZJ's will contain this telltale. This telltale is not used
on domestic production vehicles.
