When the lock button on the transmitter is pressed, all doors will lock, illuminated entry will be turned off, (providing all doors are closed) and the
vehicle theft security system (if equipped) will be armed. When the unlock button is pressed one time, the left front door will unlock, the
illuminated entry will turn on the interior courtesy lamps, the vehicle theft security system (if equipped) will be disarmed. When the button is
pressed a second time the other four doors will unlock.
The passenger door module (PDM) contains the RKE receiver. When the PDM receives a valid signal from the RKE transmitter, it will send a
signal on the CCD bus to lock or unlock the doors. The RKE transmitter uses radio frequency signals to communicate with the RKE receiver.

DRBIII Error Messages
DRBIII ERROR MESSAGES
Under normal operation, the DRB will display one of only two error messages:
- User-Requested WARM Boot or User-Requested COLD Boot
If the DRB should display any other error message record the entire display and call the MDS Hotline. This is a sample of such an error message

DRBIII Does Not Power Up
DRBIII DOES NOT POWER UP
If the LED's do not light or no sound is emitted at start up, check for loose cable connections or a bad cable. Check the vehicle battery voltage
(data link connector cavity 16). A minimum of 11 volts is required to adequately power the DRB.
If all connections are proper between the DRB and the vehicle or other devices, and the vehicle battery is fully charged, an inoperative DRB may
be the result of faulty cable or vehicle wiring.
Perform Vehicle Communication TEST 1A.
Display Is Not Visible
DISPLAY IS NOT VISIBLE
Low temperatures will affect the visibility of the display. Adjust the contrast to compensate for this condition.
Ignition Switch Sense
CIRCUIT OPERATION
On circuit V23, the Body Control Module (BCM) senses when the ignition switch is in the ACCESSORY or RUN position. The BCM senses
when the ignition switch is in the START or RUN position on circuit F99.
Introduction
The Body Control Module (BCM) operates the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS). The BCM monitors the vehicle doors, hood, liftglass in
the liftgate, liftgate, and ignition for unauthorized operation.
When the BCM detects unauthorized operation, it operates the horn repeatedly for three minutes and flashes the headlamps and tail lamps for 15
minutes. Also, the engine will not operate until the VTSS is disarmed.
The vehicle operator can activate the alarm by pushing the panic button on the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. When the operator
pushes the panic button, the radio frequency receiver in the Passenger Door Module (PDM) receives the PANIC signal and broadcasts a message
on the CCD bus. When the BCM sees the PANIC message on the CCD bus, it operates the horn repeatedly, turns on the interior lights, and flashes
the headlamps and tail lamps. The BCM activates the panic alarm for three minutes unless the operator starts the vehicle and drives at a speed
above 15 MPH or pushes the panic button on the RKE transmitter a second time.
